Abstract

The collection consists of photographs of the Winninger family and the YU Ranch on the Greybull River during the years 1920 to 1940. The Winninger family was made up of Joseph Winninger, Mabel Buell Winninger and their four kids. John Joseph "Jack" Winninger was the oldest, born in 1926, and the donor of the collection with his wife JoAnn Winninger. The YU Ranch was primarily a sheep ranch, and in the late 30s also became a cattle ranch.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of scans of photographs that depict ranching life on the YU Ranch during the early and mid 20th century. There is also a photograph of the YU Ranch before the main house was built on it. The collection also consists of a leather covered photo album that has pictures of the family's life as well as ranching life and tourism in Wyoming during the early and mid 20th century.

Biographical Note

The Winninger family is made up of Joseph Winninger and Mabel Buell Winninger and their four children, the oldest being John Joseph "Jack" Winniger born in 1926. The family lived, worked, and owned the upside down Y U ranch on the Greybull River, where they mostly ranched sheep and cattle.
