Photograph of Cheyenne Chief Wolf Robe, copyright 1892 by F A Rinehart, 8x10, black/white. Photo was removed from frame for preservation purposes. Photograph and backing were retained. Frame was disposed of.

Biographical Note

Wolf Robe or Ho'néhevotoomáhe, the Southern Cheyenne chief is believed to be the man whose profile was used on the Indian-head nickel. He won the Benjamin Harrison peace medal, which he received from the federal government in 1890 for assisting the Cherokee Commission in negotiations for disposal of land.
