Biographical Note

Born in Solingen, Prussia on November 28, 1819, and grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Bierstadt was a photographer who specialized in stereoscopic views. His photography business was based in Niagra Falls, New York. He traveled the country taking photographs before returning to Niagra Falls, where he died in 1903.
