Abstract
This collection holds Yellowstone ephemera from the early 1900s, including a decal from the Shaw & Powell Camping Co. and postcards from seemingly the early 20th century. These pieces show a glimpse of what some of the pieces making up the park would have been during this time.
Administrative/Biographical History
The Shaw & Powell Camping Company is from the late 19th - early 20th century. The company took groups on camping trips in the park during its early years. The decal is the original branding for the company. Some of the postcards are dated with the years 1907 and 1923, but the others are not. One of the postcards is from the first half of the 20th century and that can be determined because it was a Haynes photograph. Haynes Inc was in business from the late 1880s to around the early 1960s, then it was sold to Hamilton General Stores. The photograph is also a sepia toned photograph, which can narrow down as to which Haynes photograph it might be.
