Abstract

The collection of Dr. Richard F. “Dick” Gunn consists of primarily photocopies of books and articles related to firearm ballistics and the underlying scientific studies.

Collection Historical Note

Richard F. “Dick” Gunn (December 3, 1946 – October 6, 2007), born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Richard W. and Janet E. Gunn, lived in Stratford, Connecticut for most of his life.  He graduated from Bunnell High School in 1964, where he was a National Merit Finalist.  He then attended Union College, and earned his Bachelor's degree from Maharishi University of Management.  He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and active duty on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam war.  He married Marguerite P. Duffy on December 28, 1974.  He graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in 1980 and was a practicing chiropractor in Stratford for 26 years.  He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Legislative Officer for the Bridgeport Rifle Club, which was co-founded by his great-grandfather.
