Abstract
This collection consists primarily of the research documenting the writing of the Remington Catalogue Raisonné. Included in the collection are correspondence, articles, ephemera, and photographs of Remington and his works.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
Collection Historical Note
Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909), was born in Canton, New York in 1861 to Seth Pierre Remington (1830-1880) and Clara Bascomb Sackrider. He first gained notoriety as a Western artist in 1886 and ushered in a new era of naturalism in Western American artwork. His primary formats were drawing, painting, and metal castings.

Accruals:
August 5, 2015, a photo was received from Brandon Sexton, former registrar for the Yellowstone NP Museum collection, returning a photo of Frederic Remington to the BBHC. The photo was held by the BBHC prior to 1975, but was returned April 16, 1975 to the NPS under the impression the photo was theirs. The photo was returned to BBHC in 2015 because it could not be confirmed if the photograph was taken at YNP or not.
