Biographical Note for Burgess, Andrew (1837-1908) : Born in New York state, Burgess initially began life as a photographer, before extending his wartime photography experience into the design and manufacture of more efficient and effective firearms.  In 1871 he married Eudora Tiffany, related to the Tiffany & Co. jewelry firm family.  He died December 19, 1908 at his home in St. Augustine, Florida.
