Abstract

The collection includes two photographs depicting different historical moments in Yellowstone's history. One of the pictures is of the first automobile tour that took place in Yellowstone in 1915. This moment would change how Yellowstone is toured and seen, even impacting how tourists move through Yellowstone today. The second picture is of an Army pack moving through Yellowstone. This shows Yellowstone in the time before the National Park Service and when the Army ran Yellowstone National Park.

This collection includes two photographs of Yellowstone National Park History. One photograph is of the first automobile tour in Yellowstone Park, during the year of 1915. The other photograph is of an Army pack moving through Yellowstone.

Collection Historical Note

The photographs in this collection depict the early years of Yellowstone National Park. The first photograph is of the first automobile tour in Yellowstone Park, which changed the way tourists move around and are able to see the park. The second photograph is of an Army pack moving through the park, which gives a glimpse into how the park was run by the Army and before the National Park Services.
