Abstract

The collection includes a photograph album of early twentieth century life in Montana. The years in the album range from 1919 to 1930 and the subjects of the photograph appear to all be apart of the same family. The pictures are of the town in Montana that they lived in, significant moments in their lives, and trips to Yellowstone and dude ranches in Wyoming.

This collection is a photograph album with around 562 photographs. All of the photographs are from between the years 1919 and 1930. Most of them are still in the original album with the ones that have fallen out in sleeves. Also included in the collection are a set of notes describing the pictures.

Collection Historical Note

The historical significance of this photograph album is to gain a visual perspective of what life was like in a small town in Montana during the years of 1919 to 1930. This photograph album is helpful to anyone who is studying early 20th century Montana, or  ranching life. The fashion, automobiles, and the layout of the towns photographed are also interesting for studying the 20th century.

Biographical Note

Roger Schauer was a high school science teacher at Laurel High School in Laurel, Montana in the 1930s.
